Anthology fans rejoice! Scare Package II: Rad Chad’s Revenge, the super-meta-horror-comedy-sequel from Aaron B Koontz and Cameron Burns is getting the physical media treatment, with a Blu-ray and DVD release on April 11.
Scare Package II which hit Shudder in December of last year, saw a diverse group of filmmakers (Host‘s Jed Shepherd, Rachele Wiggins, Alexandra Barreto, Anthony Cousins and Koontz himself) come together to create a sequel to 2020’s Scare Package, and much like the first, the film is meta love-letter to the rules and tropes of the horror genre:
When horror guru Rad Chad Buckley’s funeral turns into an elaborate series of death traps centered around Chad’s favorite films, the guests must band together and use the rules of horror to survive the bloody game.
The packed cast includes returning stars Jeremy King, Zoe Graham and Byron Brown and added a whole host of fresh faces including Rich Sommer (Mad Men, Summer of 84), Kelli Maroney (Chopping Mall, Night of the Comet), Graham Skipper (The Leech), Maria Olsen (Paranormal Activity 3, Starry Eyes), and Shakira Ja’nai Paye (Obama’s Other Daughters, the upcoming House Party reboot).
The upcoming Blu-Ray package (heh) is stuffed full with special features, numerous special features gifted for the horror enthusiast in us all. Scare Package’s tongue-in-cheek vibe shines through with titles such as ‘Director commentary on a film, that comments on other films with (still) better commentary tracks’, ‘Making of the film, but still not Making Sense’ and a blooper and deleted scenes reel aptly titled ‘Bloopers and Scenes cut to get under 100 mins’.
