It’s been a while since we had any updates on Slitterhead, the upcoming “action-orientated” horror from Bokeh Game Studio – but today the company have released a behind-the-scenes development video, plus an apparent tease via Twitter earlier today that legendary horror mangaka Junji Ito might well be involved somehow:

We’d recognise that sly smile anywhere – that’s little miss Tomie, right?!

Slitterhead will be the first title from Bokeh Game Studio, which was established by Silent Hill and Forbidden Siren creator Keiichiro Toyama back in 2020. Originally announced at the 2021 edition of The Game Awards, Slitterhead features music from Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka and is inspired by the film works of Wong Kar-wai and Dumplings director Fruit Chan.

Today’s new behind-the-scenes featurette (seen below) showcases some of the cast deep in motion capture fighting sequences, as well as revealing a little more about Toyama’s influence and inspiration for Slitterhead.

The teaser trailer we’ve already seen for the game looks right up our alley, featuring a bunch of grotesque mutated humanoid monsters, a hefty amount of guns and of course, some good old fashioned blood splatter. Slitterhead is currently still in development for PC and consoles, but we will absolutely be bringing you any and all updates as we get them!

And whatever’s happening with Mr Ito, well needless to say, it’s a great time to be a fan, with Adult Swim’s Uzumaki anime series creeping (hopefully!) ever closer and, of course, our very own FANGORIA Studios adaptation of Bloodsucking Darkness well under way!
