Summer is typically the season for shark attack movies, and this year we’ve got a couple headed our way: Something in the Water, which arrives in select theaters and via VOD next month, and Xavier Gens’ Under Paris, which will swim its way onto Netflix in June. Today brings us the trailer for the former, which looks like it’ll offer up its fair share of shark-on-people action.

First, the synopsis:

โ€œAn idyllic destination wedding turns into a battle for survival. The film follows Meg (Hiftu Quasem,ย Ten Percent), who tentatively attends the wedding of old friend Lizzie (Lauren Lyle,ย Outlander) in the Caribbean along with fellow pals Cam (Nicole Rieko Setsuko,ย Eavesdropping) and Ruth (Ellouise Shakespeare-Hart,ย One Four Three), plus her former partner Kayla (Natalie Mitson,ย The Larkins) who she parted ways with after both survived a deeply traumatic event.โ€

It’s always the idyllic destinations that getcha in a shark attack movie, isn’t it? Let’s take a look at that trailer…

Honestly, for as many sharksploitation movies as there are, you’d think that human beings would have curbed their interest in going to the beach by now. These movies have been warning us forever! Stay on the towel and under your beach umbrellas, people, it ain’t safe out there.

Something in the Water, directed by Hayley Easton Street, will arrive in select theaters and VOD on May 3rd. We think it looks like a perfectly enjoyable excuse to stay indoors, beat the heat, and stay the hell away from the ocean. Stay tuned for further updates on this one should they roll in, folks!
