Mick Garris Selects - Streaming on Arrow on July 1
Mick Garris Selects is a season of titles from the mind of filmmaker and author Mick Garris, best known for his Stephen King adaptations and for creating the "Masters Of Horror" television series.
"I was flattered to be asked by my friends at Arrow to recommend some of their titles that I particularly enjoy. The world of cult video is a deep and expansive one, and the Arrow catalog is filled with gems, wonders of a cockeyed world of cinema that much of the world believes is of the gutter variety. But these movies are imaginative, propulsive, and unafraid to travel where the mainstream might fear to tread. Some of these are more unhinged than others, but they all display filmmakers working on films that only they could create. These are distinctive visions, unfiltered by studio notes and corporate influences.
Here’s a list of delectables that you might want to take a bite out of next time you’re jonesing for something outré, outside of the lanes of your neighborhood cineplex, some more obvious than others, but all of them treats."
Audition (2001)
Basket Case (1982)
Dark Water (2002)
Deep Red (1975)
Hellraiser (1987)
Re-Animator (1985)
Ringu (1998)
Schlock (1973)
The Addiction (1995)

I Know What You Need - Streaming on Arrow July 19th
It's 1976, and popular college co-ed Elizabeth meets an unusual boy, Edward, who knows what she needs. But who is Edward really, and what secrets is he hiding? It's a love story, but a Stephen King love story, so things aren't always what they seem. Elizabeth doesn't know what she wants, but Edward knows what she needs.
This short film, directed by Julia Marchese, is based on a Stephen King short story and is one of the last "Dollar Babies" or films that Stephen King allowed low-budget filmmakers to make after purchasing the rights to one of his books or stories for one dollar. Marchese and Arrow were given permission by King to stream this scary short film on the Arrow Player.
God Told Me To - Streaming on The Criterion Channel
A New York detective investigates a series of murders committed by random New Yorkers who claim that "God told them to."
God Told Me To was written and directed by Larry Cohen and stars Tony Lo Bianco, Sandy Dennis, Sylvia Sidney, Sam Levene, Richard Lynch, and Deborah Raffin. It a very creepy film that pushes the envelope on religious belief and murder.
I Was a Teenage Serial Killer - Streaming on The Criterion Channel
Mary is a good girl until she decides to kill all the "sexist pigs." She, of course, encounters many of them and enjoys killing them.
In this no-budget, underground short film directed by Sarah Jacobson and starring Kristin Calabrese, a 19-year-old woman has simply had enough and goes on a murder spree. Since this film rarely comes to streaming services, this is a prime time to watch something that most horror fans haven't seen.
The New York Ripper - Streaming on The Criterion Channel
The New York Ripper is a Giallo film set in New York City that was directed by Italian maestro Lucio Fulci. It features the most bizarre killer in the history of Giallo films, several gorgeous women who come to bad ends and is so sleazy that you might feel that you need to take a shower after you watch it. We're not kidding; the killer is absolutely bonkers, and some seriously perverse things happen during the film's running time. Naturally, it is a Fulci classic.
A burned-out New York police detective teams up with a college psychoanalyst to track down a vicious serial killer randomly stalking and killing various young women around the city. The film stars Jack Hedley, Paolo Malco, Almanta Suska, and Alexandra Delli Colli.
