Each Tuesday in July, FANGORIA will present Terror Tuesdays on the streaming service Pluto TV, a triple feature of horror films personally selected by a member of the Fango fam. Each week, one of us will curate three titles with a theme of some sort, and the party starts every Tuesday night at 8pm Eastern/5pm Pacific on the Pluto TV Terror channel. It’s all free!
This week we dive into some trippy features involving drug use. We aren’t condoning this, but we also aren’t judging!
First up, we join Nicolas Cage in Panos Cosmatos’ wild and hallucinatory revenge-horror film Mandy. Wild, vibrant colors, Nic Cage yelling in his undies, an epic chainsaw battle, a hippie cult, Bill Duke, Richard Brake, a rad axe, and demon-biker henchmen. What more could you want?
Next, we dive into Don Coscarelli’s John Dies at the End, based on the novel by David Wong. A new drug, called Soy Sauce, is on the street and sends those who partake into alternate dimensions and timestreams. Oh, and there’s a monster made out of meat, and Paul Giamatti is in this. If you are a fan of Coscarelli’s work (Phantasm, Bubba Ho-Tep), you will dig this movie.
Closing out tonight’s triple feature, we jump back into the mind of Panos Cosmatos and check out his first feature, Beyond the Black Rainbow. This movie is mostly vibes and a slow burn but is filled with vibrant hallucinatory imagery and an ending that will have you wondering out loud, “What the fuck did I just watch?”
Tune in tonight at 8pm Eastern/5pm Pacific on the Pluto TV Terror channel. And join us next week for another installment of FANGORIA’s Terror Tuesday.
