Well, that was quick!

Mere weeks after the arrival of his holiday-themed slasher Thanksgiving, director Eli Roth has announced a sequel, Thanksgiving 2, which is slated to arrive in theaters sometime in 2025. The news come to us directly from Roth’s Instagram page, where the following video just popped up:

As The Hollywood Reporter points out in their announcement of the news, Thanksgiving is Roth’s best-reviewed film as a director (it’s sitting at a very strong 83% on Rotten Tomatoes) and has generated over $30M globally since its release earlier this month. Given all of that, a sequel was probably inevitable … but, still! They’re not wasting any time on this one!

For the uninitiated, Thanksgiving is the long-awaited feature film version of the faux slasher trailer Roth created back in 2007 for Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse. Starring Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Nell Verlaque, with Rick Hoffman, Gina Gershon andย Tim Dillon, Thanksgiving revolves around a slasher by the name of John Carver (he dresses as a pilgrim, naturally) who begins murdering the people of Plymouth, MA one year after a deadly accident on Black Friday.

Nothing further to report on this one at this time, and of course it’ll likely be a while before we learn more, but stay tuned for further updates on Thanksgiving 2 just as soon as they roll in.
