The Casting of Frank Stone - Behavior Interactive

We’re getting a brand new Dead by Daylight game later this year, and we’ve got the trailer to prove it. Behavior Interactive has partnered with developer Supermassive Games for The Casing of Frank Stone, a brand new title set in the world of Dead by Daylight. Unlike Dead by Daylight, however, this is a single-player, narrative game. So, even though it takes place in the same universe, it is going to be a radically different experience.

The game takes place in the summer of 1980 and focuses on a small group of filmmakers looking to make their mark on horror cinema. Players guide the fates of the characters and the shoot of the film Murder Mill as they pull back the curtain on the legend of infamous serial killer Frank Stone. It is described as having a branching narrative, meaning the choices one makes will unlock various paths through the story. The official logline for the game reads as follows:

“In the small town of Cedar Hills, Oregon, the legacy of sadistic serial killer Frank Stone cuts deep, leaving scars across families, generations, and the very fabric of reality itself. Players join a group of young friends as they attempt to unravel a mystery of cosmic proportions where every decision shapes the story and impacts the fate of the characters within it.”

The game will also involve solving puzzles and reacting to quick time events to advance the story. Players can expect an estimated total playtime of between five to seven hours, depending on how they handle the branching narrative of it all, according to Traci Tufte of Supermassive Games.

The game was first announced at the Game Awards in 2023 but this provides our first in-depth look at the Dead by Daylight spin-off. Aside from this game, Behavior is also further expanding the universe with a shooter game currently going under the name Project T, while releasing a new two-person rogue light game titled What the Fog as of today. Eight years after the game first launched, the franchise is expanding in a big way. To that end, Blumhouse is also currently working on a Dead by Daylight movie

The Casting of Frank Stone is due to arrive sometime in 2024. The game is currently available to Wishlist on Steam, the Epic Games Store, the PlayStation Store and the Microsoft Store for the Xbox Series X|S a TheCastingOfFrankStone.com.
