Karen Lam’s The Curse of Willow Song debuted at the 2020 Vancouver International Film Festival, where it won the award for “Best British Columbia Film.” It’s been a long wait, but the film is finally hitting DVD and Digital this September, and today brings us the film’s official trailer. As promised, Lam’s film looks trippy, nightmarish, and right up our alley.

Let’s take a look!

Like we said – kinda trippy! In case you weren’t clear on what’s going on in that trailer (it gets pretty hallucinogenic there towards the end!), here’s an official plot synopsis:

Willow Song, a recovering addict and parolee, struggles to start over. Willow finds herself in a concrete wasteland. Facing isolation and displacement, shadows creep into Willowโ€™s mind and her nightmares become too real.

The Curse of Willow Song stars Valerie Tian (Jennifer’s Body), Simon Chin, Elfina Luk and Ingrid Nilson. Lam’s film, inspired by Japanese horror films (and specifically an experimental film by the name of Pages of Madness), and we’re very happy the folks at Uncork’d Entertainment acquired it for distribution.

Says Keith Leopard, President of Uncorkโ€™d Entertainment:

โ€œThis film has so much to offer. It will appeal to the genre audience but also the Asian community โ€” as represented in front of and behind the camera. Karen Lam is truly one of the most exceptional filmmakers out there, and The Curse of Willow Song reiterates that.โ€
