Today brings us the first trailer for Steven Boyle’s The Demon Disorder, a “demonic family drama” that will make your last argument-filled Thanksgiving with the fam feel like a walk in the park. Starring Fringe‘s John Noble, Charles Cottier,ย Christian Willisย andย Dirk Hunter, the film will debut on Shudder later this Fall.

So, what’s The Demon Disorder about? Take it away, press release!

“The Australian demonic family drama centers on Graham, a man haunted by his past since the death of his father and the estrangement from his two brothers. Jake, the middle brother, contacts Graham claiming that something is horribly wrong: their youngest brother Phillip is possessed by their deceased father. Graham reluctantly agrees to go and see for himself. With the three brothers back together, they soon realize they are unprepared for the forces against them and learn that the sins of their past will not stay hidden. But how do you defeat a presence that knows you inside and out? An anger so powerful it refuses to stay dead?”

We do love a good Aussie horror film around these parts, and we’re particularly intrigued by this one given the background of its director: Steven Boyle has long been an SFX wunderkind whose work we’ve seen in everything from King Kong to The Matrix trilogy to Peter Jackson’s trio of Hobbit films (as former Fringe fans, we’re also psyched to see John Noble involved here, but that pretty much goes without saying).

Let’s take a look at this trailer…

Here’s what Boyle (who, in addition to directing the film, co-wrote its script with Toby Osborne) has to say ahead of the The Demon Disorder‘s arrival:

โ€œWe are thrilled that THE DEMON DISORDER has reached its final resting place with our friends at Shudder. Itโ€™s a community and fanbase that we hold in the highest esteem and we couldnโ€™t be happier to be on this journey with them!โ€

Y’know who else is excited about The Demon Disorder‘s arrival? Shudder’s Head of Programming, Sam Zimmerman. Let’s see what he has to say about Boyle’s film:

โ€œAfter years of a creating a range of elaborate visual experiences through his work as a special effects designer on iconic films, weโ€™re thrilled to give Steven Boyle a platform for his feature length directorial debut with THE DEMON DISORDER. Full of impressive body horror that fans have come to expect from this master of effects, Boyleโ€™s film is an engrossing story about breaking generational curses that viewers will find both unsettling and amusing.โ€

Sounds great to us! We’ll be keeping an eye out for further information about The Demon Disorder between now and its arrival on Shudder this Fall. Stay tuned for further updates (including a specific release date) as they roll in, folks!
