Hey there, demonic possession fans!

Were you interested in seeing David Gordon Green’s recently-released The Exorcist: Believer, but unable to find the time in your busy schedule to make a trip to the theaters? Well, today’s your lucky day: according to a press release we just received at FANGORIA HQ, Blumhouse’s first film in a new Exorcist trilogy will be available to rent or buy on digital as of tomorrow!

Take it away, press release:

“As it continues its theatrical run, the chilling new horror film from Blumhouse and Morgan Creek, THE EXORCIST: BELIEVER, will be available exclusively on digital platforms where you can rent or buy tomorrow, October 24, 2023, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. 50 years after the most terrifying horror film shocked the world, THE EXORCIST: BELIEVER is a brand-new chapter in the saga, directly following on the groundbreaking original 1973 film.”

As you know, The Exorcist: Believer hit theaters a mere 17 days ago, and did not receive the warmest welcome from critics (22% on Rotten Tomatoes) or audiences (the film opened below projections, with just $26.5M in the States). An unfortunate turn of events, to be sure, but perhaps the stay-at-home crowd will be a bit more receptive to Gordon Green’s vision.

For those who’ve not been following along, The Exorcist: Believer revolves around two little girls who go missing, only to return three days later acting very strangely, indeed. It soon becomes apparent that both have been possessed, which leads one of the girl’s fathers (played by the great Leslie Odom, Jr.) to seek out the help of one Chris MacNeil (Ellen Burstyn, reprising her role from the original Exorcist).

As we mentioned up top, The Exorcist: Believer is planned as the first in a new trilogy of Exorcist movies from Blumhouse and Universal, who paid $400M for the rights to produce said trilogy. The next film in the series, The Exorcist: Deceiver, is still apparently en route, though it currently seems debatable as to whether or not David Gordon Green will return to helm that installment.

Stay tuned for further updates on that one as they become available, and be on the lookout for The Exorcist: Believer when it hits digital tomorrow.
