Just last week, we learned that Rob Savage’s The Boogeyman (adapted from the classic Stephen King short story of the same name) was getting something of a release upgrade: originally planned as a Hulu original, the film reportedly tested well enough that the powers-that-be decided to give it a run in theaters. We looked upon this news and saw that it was good.
Today brings us another Boogeyman update, and it comes directly from the top:

Yes, according to Stephen King himself, the first trailer for The Boogeyman will air this Sunday during the big NFC Championship game. If you’re already a football fan, you’re good. The rest of us non-sports nerds will have to catch the trailer once it lands online (which, yes, will likely be within minutes of the trailer airing during the game).
For those who haven’t been following along, The Boogeyman is the latest directorial effort from Rob Savage, and is an expanded version of the tale which originally appeared in King’s Night Shift collection. Here’s the film’s official synopsis:
“Still reeling from the tragic death of their mother, a teenage girl and her little brother find themselves plagued by a sadistic presence in their house and struggle to get their grieving father to pay attention before it’s too late.”
Savage’s film stars the great David Dastmalchian, Yellowjackets breakout star Sophie Thatcher, Chris Messina, and Vivian Lyra Blair, from a script written by Bryan Heyman (following original drafts that were written by a number of other strong writers – M3GAN‘s Akela Cooper and A Quiet Place‘s Scott Beck and Bryan Woods among them). It hits theaters on June 2nd of this year, and we cannot wait to see what Savage has done with it!
