Christopher Landon’s Freaky remains one of our favorite movies of the past few years, a horror comedy that delivered on both the horror and comedy fronts so successfully that it made that particular balancing act look easy. Naturally, we’ve been waiting to see what Landon would do next ever since, and today we’re getting our first look at that project.
We Have a Ghost, written and directed by Landon (and based on a Vice story written by Geoff Manaugh) may appear a smidge more family-friendly than Freaky, to be sure, but it looks every bit as raucous and entertaining. Let’s take a look at that trailer…
David Harbour as a wandering spirit who can’t talk. A family figuring out how to monetize their home’s spooky new guest via the help of the internet. Tig Notaro showing up as a hard-assed, ghost-hunting CIA agent. Jennifer goddamn Coolidge as a phony psychic who immediately melts down (and jumps out a window) upon being confronted with actual proof of the spirit world. This looks like an absolute blast, and we can’t wait to check it out when it hits Netflix in February.
Here’s an official plot synopsis, should you require one:
“Finding a ghost named Ernest haunting their new home turns Kevinโs family into overnight social media sensations. But when Kevin and Ernest go rogue to investigate the mystery of Ernestโs past, they become a target of the CIA.โ
Aaand here’s the film’s first poster:
We Have a Ghost, starring Anthony Mackie, David Harbour, Jennifer Coolidge, Tig Notaro, Jahi DiโAllo Winston and Erica Ash, hits Netflix on February 24th. We’ll be tuning in! And hey, if you still haven’t seen Freaky, go ahead and use the time between now and We Have a Ghost‘s arrival to get caught up – you will not regret it.
