The fine folks at RLJE Films have released a new trailer for the upcoming shark thriller The Last Breath. This is the latest effort from director Joachim Hedeฬn (Breaking Surface) and will ensure that we get some shark movie action in our lives before the summer is up. Itโs a little tough to come up with a hook in a subgenre that has churned out quite a few entries lately, but this one seems to have done it with an exploration of a World War II shipwreck gone wrong. Check it out.ย
Is this a low budget affair? Yes, that much is clear. But sometimes that can show its ugly face a lot more than it does here. The shipwreck set looks good. The sharks donโt look like a high school kid made them on the schoolโs library computer. Perhaps most importantly, it doesnโt appear as though they are skimping on the shark action. There appears to be a lot of carnage on the way. Sometimes the whole Jaws approach of less is more is what you want. Other times, you want to just watch sharks rip folks to shreds. Aside from the trailer, we’ve also got a new poster for you to check out below.ย The synopsis for the film reads as follows:
โFinding the long-lost wreck of the warship USS Charlotte has been the lifelong pursuit of Levi (Julian Sands), an aging expat running a tourist dive business in the British Virgin Islands together with recent college dropout Noah (Jack Parr). When the USS Charlotte emerges for the first time in eighty years after a tropical storm, Noahโs friends visiting the island insist for them all to do a once-in-a-lifetime dive on the newly discovered wreck before itโs handed over to the authorities. The dream dive rapidly turns into a nightmare as they become trapped in the darkness of the Charlotteโs interior, thirty meters down and with a dwindling air supply. And then they discover that they are not alone.โย
The cast includes Kim Spearman (As I Am), Jack Parr (Peaky Blinders), Alexander Arnold (Yesterday), Erin Mullen (Midsomer Murders), Arlo Carter (Doc Martin), and Julian Sands (A Room with a View). Nick Saltrese (A Prayer Before Dawn) penned the screenplay.ย
