Over the past few months, the folks behind Showtime’s Yellowjackets have continued playing their cards very close to the vest: exciting casting announcements contained precious few character details; a teaser trailer or two conveying the fact that the show’s tone was still very much in place without offering much in the way of plot. We’ve been grateful for each and every scrap of information that’s been dropped during this period, but then, we’re also dying to get back to what was one of our favorite television shows of 2022. Every crumb feels like a banquet!
Today, Yellowjackets dropped its full, official S2 trailer, and it offers our best look yet at what series creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson have in store for us this season – more characters, more sinister goings-on in the woods, and 100% more Elijah Wood.

Oh, yes. We are very excited for this show to return, indeed.
For anyone who didn’t watch Yellowjackets during its wildly-successful first-season run, the series tells the story of a high school girls’ soccer team whose plane crashes somewhere in the wilderness en route to a big game. The girls manage to find a big cabin out in the woods where they can set up shop, and for a time things seem to be going pretty well … until they start going rapidly downhill, in a number of very sinister ways.
But wait! That’s not all! In addition to that timeline, the show also jumps forward into the future, where a number of those girls are now all grown up, making their way through their adult lives (some of which have proven more successful than others) and reconnecting as a crew when their past turns out to be less dead than they thought it was. In both timelines there are violent encounters, mysteries to be solved, and the not-so-subtle suggestion that something truly evil happened out in those woods before the girls were rescued. Oh, and also? This soundtrack, full of ’90s songs you haven’t heard in two decades, utterly whips.
Yellowjackets S2 will begin airing on Showtime on March 24th, with every character who survived season one back for more. We recommend getting caught up with the show’s first season before that date rolls around, because you’re not gonna wanna miss this one.
