According to Deadline, the good folks at XYZ Films have picked up distribution rights to Zac Locke’s #FLOAT, and will have this “supernatural slasher” ready for us just in time for Christmas!
What’s #FLOAT about? I’m glad you asked:
“The film follows the young, beautiful, and full-of-life vlogger Kali (Mayhew) and her pals who are heading to the river for their annual lazy river float, the first one since their friend Chuy overdosed and drowned a year earlier. But their partying suddenly takes a dark turn when a mysterious force plunges them into a life-and-death struggle, forcing them to face their own fears as they turn on each other – and proceed to die one by one.”
Speaking as someone who diligently floats the river every summer here in Texas (it’s one of, like, three possible ways to stay cool in the summer), I’m intrigued by this setup! Usually, a floatable river is positively overflowing with people when that activity’s in season – so, does the “mysterious force” only come after this particular group of friends? Why can’t they just, y’know, leave the river? Does Kali’s vlogging gig have anything to do with why they’ve been targeted? I have no idea, but I’m curious to learn the answers to these questions!

I was thrilled in that the film came out as good as I expected it to and I can’t wait for #FLOAT to be celebrated as one of the best horror debuts of 2022.”

#FLOAT, which stars newcomer Kate Mayhew, Scarlett Sperduto, Kaya Coleman, Grant Morningstar, and Christina Nguyen, will arrive on December 8th.
