For the past few months, all we’ve been hearing is that Rob Savage’s The Boogeyman – a feature-length adaptation of the Stephen King short story of the same name – is one helluva crowdpleaser. We heard it after the film’s first test screenings (where the audience scores were high enough to get Savage’s film an upgrade from “streaming” to “theatrical”). We heard it after the CinemaCon screening that happened a few weeks back. And very soon now, we’re finally gonna get a chance to see it for ourselves.
That includes you, by the way! The Boogeyman hits theaters on June 2nd, and as of this morning you can now purchase tickets to see it. To mark the occasion, 20th Century has just released a brand-new TV spot for the film, alongside a new poster. Let’s take a look at both of those now…
Aaaand here’s a look at that new TV spot:
Listen, the new poster and the fresh TV spot are nice and all, but we’ve been sold on this one for quite some time now. Appreciated but unnecessary, in other words!
For those who’ve not been keeping up with this one, here’s an official plot synopsis for The Boogeyman:
“High school student Sadie Harper and her younger sister Sawyer are reeling from the recent death of their mother and arenโt getting much support from their father, Will, a therapist who is dealing with his own pain. When a desperate patient unexpectedly shows up at their home seeking help, he leaves behind a terrifying supernatural entity that preys on families and feeds on the suffering of its victims.”
Savage’s film stars Sophie Thatcher (Yellowjackets), Chris Messina (Birds of Prey), Marin Ireland (The Umbrella Academy), and FANGORIA Fave David Dastmalchian (co-host of this year’s Chainsaw Awards, don’tcha know). We’re very eager to see if this one lives up to the hype, and will be there alongside the rest of you to find out when The Boogeyman hits theaters on June 2nd.
