News of the Hunter Schafer-starring horror Cuckoo has been scarce since we first got a glimpse of it almost two years ago (seriously, clock the date on that piece) – but it’s creeping ever closer and closer, with NEON today revealing a theatrical release date of May 3, 2024.
Written and directed by German filmmaker Tilman Singer (2018’s excellent Luz), Cuckoo also stars Dan Stevensย (The Guest), Jessica Henwickย (Game of Thrones), Marton Csรณkรกsย (Freelance),ย Greta Fernรกndezย (Santo) andย Jan Bluthardtย (the aforementioned Luz).
Details of Cuckoo have been kept mostly tightly under wraps, but here’s an official plot synopsis via SXSW (where the mysterious horror is premiering in March):
On a trip to the German Alps with her father and stepmother, Gretchen discovers that the resort town where theyโre staying hides sinister secrets, as sheโs plagued by strange noises and frightening visions of a woman pursuing her.ย
2024 is already shaping up to be a hugely exciting year for NEON, with Osgood Perkins’ hotly-anticipated Longlegs and Immaculate, which stars Schafer’s Euphoria co-star Sydney Sweeney, en route too.
We can’t wait to bring you more updates on Cuckoo (particularly a new still!) as and when we get them.
