Lady Raven fans rejoice – M. Night Shyamalan’s Trap gets a brand new trailer today ahead of its August 2 theatrical release date (after being bumped up a full week from August 9!)
Starring Josh Hartnett, Ariel Donoghue and Saleka Shyamalan, Trap follows:
A man and his daughter attend a pop concert where they realize they’re at the center of a dark and sinister event. When the father notices a heightened police presence at the venue, he’s alerted to the fact that the concert was put together as an elaborate ruse to catch a serial killer. Little does the vendor who tells him this know that the killer is, we’re led to believe, Hartnett himself.
Of course, knowing Shyamalan, who has firmly established himself as the twist master with The Sixth Sense, The Village and Unbreakable, this can’t be the only surprise in store, surely.
The new trailer gives us a glimpse into Hartnett’s killer’s (affectionately known as The Butcher) twisted psyche, as well as hinting that he’s not going down without a very explosive fight,
Hartnett has previously teased that Trap is something special, saying:
Working with M. Night was one of the best experiences of my career. I think he’s a true Artist in the capitol-A sense of the word. And I think people are gonna be really surprised and excited about the movie we make. It’s very bizarre, very dark, and it’s wild.”
Written, directed and produced by Shyamalan, Trap is also produced by Ashwin Rajan and Marc Bienstock, with Steven Schneider as executive producer.
See you at the show on August 2!
