Just last week, the bean counters in Hollywood made it official: Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise had hit the $100M mark at the worldwide box office. Not too shabby for a film that was originally headed straight to streaming!
Yesterday, we learned that Evil Dead Rise would be made available to rent or purchase digitally today, with a physical release planned for the end of June. That’s right: if you weren’t among the $100M worth of people who caught Evil Dead Rise in theaters, you can now watch it from the comfort of your very own living room. Or bedroom. Or whichever room you watch movies in where you live; I don’t know your life.
But that’s not all – it appears that Warner Bros. has also uploaded the first 10 minutes of Evil Dead Rise to YouTube, presumably to further entice those who have not had the pleasure of seeing Cronin’s film. We’ve already seen it, obviously, but what the hell? We’ll happily watch that opening again:
Yup, still one hell of an opening. And just a fraction of the nightmarish imagery Evil Dead Rise has in store for those who watch the entire thing (Cronin and company did not hold back on the gore for this one, and God bless ’em).
Nothing further to report on Evil Dead Rise at this time, but do stay tuned for more on the future of the Evil Dead franchise as new updates roll in. Given the success of this one, we’re expecting to hear about a sequel sooner rather than later.
