There’s a real Goldilocks dilemma with many short films. This one’s too short; this one’s too long. (SO MANY are too long.) Nailing the tone, vibe, mood – sure, these are all daunting challenges. But the running time – getting in, doing the damn thing, and getting out? That’s an underappreciated skill.

Case in point: The Promotion. A short we saw at the Chattanooga Film Fest, this piece by FILM CLUB grabbed us with its tight script, assured direction and hilarious performances. And it does not overstay its welcome, which is a lesson many short filmmakers (and their audiences) find out the hard way. But The Promotion is workplace horror/comedy done right by a team of talented filmmakers (whose work you can follow in the handles and links below), and we’re proud to host its online premiere.

To say any more would spoil, and since the damn thing is only 4 minutes and ten seconds, let’s get to watching.
