Fans of killer dolls, rejoice! Charles Lee Ray is back for more as Chucky season 2 has officially debuted on Syfy and USA Network, with an entire season’s worth of murder and mayhem lying ahead of us. But for those who have yet to partake in the first episode of the show’s sophomore season, the brass at the networks have made that rather easy, as the season premiere is now available, free of charge, on YouTube.

And there we have it! Similarly, Syfy and USA did this with the first season as well. Somewhat transparently, this might be a way to get people hooked on the goods for free as a means to get them to pay to watch the rest of the season. That could mean signing up for cable or a live TV streaming service like Sling. It could also mean renting/buying episodes, or the whole season, from a digital retailer like Amazon Prime Video. But that’s a decision future you needs to make. For now, enjoy the episode for free. The synopsis for the season 2 premiere reads as follows:

“In the Chucky season two premiere… A year after seemingly defeating their nemesis Chucky, the ‘3 Amigos’ Jake (Zackary Arthur), Devon (Bjorgvin Arnarson), and Lexy (Alyvia Alyn Lind) begin receiving mysterious, threatening calls from an all-too-familiar-sounding enemy.”

This season will be full of familiar faces (and voices). Aside from the core returning cast, we’ve also got Brad Dourif back as the voice of the titular killer doll who has anchored the Child’s Play franchise from the very beginning. We’ve also got Jennifer Tilly back as Tiffany Valentine and, against all odds, Devon Sawa, who died not once, but twice in the first season. He is playing a new character this time around, so maybe he can pull off the hat trick and die three times.

Chucky continues the tradition of keeping this franchise alive and kicking for going on 35 years without a reset. The continuity dating back to the original 1988 slasher classic remains intact, with creator Don Mancini guiding this show to help keep it all together. Given how many times other slashers such as Halloween have been rebooted or retooled over the years, it’s downright remarkable what Mancini has accomplished. Yes, we did have the remake in 2019, but that exists in addition to the existing continuity – it didn’t manage to reset everything.

Chucky returns with new episodes Wednesdays on Syfy and USA Network.
