Tim Burton’s Wednesday season 2 is officially underway, and we have the teaser to prove it. Netflix has confirmed that the hit series has begun production on its sophomore outing with a little tease of what’s to come. Specifically, the streamer has released a video announcing the entire cast for the second season, revealing a host of guest stars and series regulars who will be joining Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams. Check it out.
Alright, let’s take a deep breath and go over who will be joining Ortega, shall we? Returning series regulars include Fred Armisen (Uncle Fester), Emma Myers (Enid), Joy Sunday (Bianca), Doohan (Tyler), Victor Dorobantu (Thing), Moosa Mostafa (Eugene), Georgie Farmer (Ajax), Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams) and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Ritchie Santiago). The video also confirms that Steve Buscemi (Barry Dort), Billie Piper (Capri), Evie Templeton, Owen Painter and Noah Taylor are on board as series regulars as well. Buscemi’s casting had previously been reported, but now it’s been firmed up.
The show’s second season also has an insane lineup of guest stars. This includes Joanna Lumley as Grandmama and Thandiwe Newton as Dr. Fairburn, as well as Frances O’Connor (The Conjuring 2), Haley Joel Osment (The Sixth Sense), Heather Matarazzo (Scream) and Joonas Suotamo (Solo: A Star Wars Story). Most interesting of all, Christopher Lloyd who played Uncle Fester in the ‘90s Addams Family movies, is on the list of guest stars. There’s no word yet on who he will be playing. Needless to say, that’s one heck of an ensemble.
Premiering in 2022, Wednesday became a massive hit on Netflix, smashing viewership records for the streamer. In no small part thanks to Ortega’s rising star power, as well as Burton getting to play in The Addams Family sandbox, it was the perfect storm. Ortega has been quite busy, reuniting with Burton on this year’s Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, among many other projects. That’s part of what took Netflix so long to get production going on the second season. But this is a better late than never situation.
Al Gough and Miles Millar serve as executive producers and showrunners of the series alongside Burton, who also directs. Steve Stark, Andrew Mittman, Kevin Miserocchi, Kayla Alpert, Jonathan Glickman, Gail Berman, Tommy Harper and Kevin Lafferty are also on board as executive producers.
Wednesday season 2 is expected to hit Netflix sometime in 2025. For more, check out Fangoria #109 from the archives, featuring 1991’s The Addams Family on the cover.
