We all make bad decisions every day. Most of the time, it is not a choice of life or death. The consequences aren't that bad. Maybe you get a breakfast burrito that isn't that great. But in a horror movie, your choices could be lethal. Let's examine some bad decisions in Wes Craven's classic “Scream.”

Let's start with the first big mistake. If your family member is murdered and they never find the culprit, it's probably a good idea to move. Preferably change your name first. Join FBI Witness Protection. Just don't sit around waiting for the murderer to start getting any wacky ideas about finishing what they started, especially if your hometown has a snappy name that would make good copy for the news. There are plenty of places with names that wouldn't work as well as Woodsboro. Los Gatos Murders? It means "the cats." See, it doesn't have the same kind of ring to it.

Poor Casey. She did the best she could under the circumstances; no victim blaming here, but one thing she should have done was to start calling for help as soon as she knew this wasn't a joke. Don't tell the killer about your plan to call the cops, and for heaven's sake, don't listen to the killer when they say the police will never arrive in time. Why are you taking advice from Ghostface? He wants to kill you, so he will tell you it won't work, even if it might.

Okay, so we give you a pass on not moving out of Woodsboro after the first murder, Sidney. But what about after the second murder? Even if you don't want to move entirely, following your advice of leaving the house in a horror movie, why don't you go once you hear about Casey and Steve? I think it's a great indicator that the murderer who was never caught has become active again. It's a great indicator that a grand tour of Europe might be in order. Hey, even going on a road trip to Yosemite sounds like a better idea.

Let's talk about choices. Sydney is a girl in high school, so she doesn't have the life experience to know that the dirtbag bad boy is usually a terrible choice of someone to trust. They are attractive because of their rebellious attitude and style, but they will never have your back and are probably cheating on you with everyone in town. Also, your intuition is pinging that he might be the killer. Just don't do it.

Speaking of relationship choices, don't be friends with guys like Stu. He's amusing but also a heartless jerk who likes to mock your pain and talks like a serial killer. Why does he do that? Because he is a serial killer. You could probably find a better friend in band class or drama club.

If the janitor at the school you attend wears this hat and sweater combo, transfer immediately.

Okay, if you don't go with your dad, who is going on a business trip and murders are happening in your town, and you have to opportunity to stay with the sister of the local deputy, go there immediately. Deputy Dewey may not be the brightest or the most effective lawman, but he has a gun, and Ghostface doesn't. He can probably radio for help. Make him do it.

Poor Principal Himbry. He tried to be empathetic and supportive during a horror movieโ€”a big mistake. Killers don't like that, especially when you are punishing people who are dressing up like them. If it interferes with their image, you're toast.

Poor Tatum. Throwing a big party or going to a big party during a serial killer murder spree isn't a stellar idea. But if you make that choice for some reason, don't go off by yourself to get more beer, especially if you are female, especially if the beer is in the garage. You shouldn't be drinking anyway; you're underage.

Come on, Randy. You know the rules, and you still can't follow them. You don't have sex, which is the kiss of death, but drinking is terrible too. Let's face it, you should have known better, and you defied your own rules. Boo!

For aspiring reporters, getting the scoop is great, but there are some breaking news stories that just aren't worth it. If getting the story gets you killed, you no longer have a scoop. In the case of a raging murder spree, you might want to avoid going to the place where the killer is because they could always decide you would make a great next victimโ€”report from somewhere nice and safe during daylight hours.

If you feel you must date the teenage bad boy, whatever else you do, don't sleep with him. If you have never had sex before, this warning times a thousand. Guys like this look for innocent girls to pull their scams on. He doesn't love you; in this case, he might have killed your mom. Big no, no.

What I don't get is waiting for them to come back at the end. Why wait for them to attack you again? Double tap them today and stop needless horror deaths. Please don't wait; get it done and watch them afterward, sure, but don't give them the opportunity in the first place.
