According to Deadline, Yellow Veil Pictures has snapped up the worldwide sales rights to Daphné Baiwir’s feature documentary King on Screen. The film, which will hold its world premiere next month at Fantastic Fest, takes a career-spanning look at Stephen King movies, and features commentary from a slew of horror-friendly filmmakers, experts, and previous King co-workers.

Here’s what Baiwir had to say about the deal:

“I’m so glad we managed to gather such stellar names for King On Screen, who gave such insight into King’s work and its journey to the big screen. With illustrious directors and the celebrated actors who collaborated with us to recreate some of the iconic look and situations of King’s adaptations as an introduction to the documentary including Jeffrey DeMunn, James Caan, Tim Curry, Amy Irving, Dee Wallace and Carel Struycken, the experience was unbelievable!”

Listen, speaking as someone who has recorded hundreds of episodes of a Stephen King podcast, there is much to discuss when it comes to the dozens upon dozens of adaptations that’d been made from King’s novels. The highs (Shawshank Redemption, The Shining, Misery, Carrie) are very high, while the lows (The Tommyknockers, Dreamcatcher, Trucks) are very low, and the ways in which some of these films have influenced other horror filmmakers are too many to count. All in all, it’s a fascinating body of work, compiled by some of the best filmmakers in the biz.

We can’t wait to check out King on Screen when it debuts at next month’s Fantastic Fest, in Austin, TX. See ya there, my fellow King nerds.
