We covered the everloving shit out of M3GAN in the lead-up to its release. The teaser. The trailers. The TV spots. The posters. The FANGORIA Magazine cover. No M3GAN content was left unaccounted for, no stone left unturned. Then the movie came out, made over $120M at the worldwide box office, and we went back to our precious little lives, safe in the assumption that we had done our due diligence.
Not so much! Today, we’ve got one last bit of M3GAN news to share (until the already-announced sequel gets up and running; surely we’ll have much more to say when that time comes): in a surprise move, Gerard Johnstone’s film is now available to rent (for $19.99) via VOD, or for digital purchase (for $24.99) via the same platforms. Yes, as of today, you too can own your very own M3GAN.
As we’ve previously reported, M3GAN 2.0 is officially in the works. Key cast members (including Alison Williams) are on board to return, screenwriter Akela Cooper’s coming back to hammer out the screenplay, and director Gerard Johnstone is … well, right now he’s not officially signed to helm the sequel, but if we were betting types we’d expect him to be there for M3GAN 2.0, as well. The movie won’t be along until 2025, so we’ve got a bit of a wait ahead of us, but perhaps rewatching M3GAN in the meantime will take some of the sting outta that wait.
Stay tuned for more on M3GAN and its sequel as further updates become available, folks.
