Hot on the heels of yesterday’s rumor concerning a new Friday the 13th game comes the following announcement from Gun Interactive, the folks behind 2017’s asymmetrical, multiplayer horror title Friday the 13th: The Game…

Yes, Friday the 13th: The Game is being brought in for a landing thanks to Gun Interactive’s license expiring. As they lay out via the announcement above, players will have until the end of the year to pick up a copy of the game (at a massively discounted price!), and will have until the end of 2024 to stalk other players with Jason’s iconic machete. If you never got around to giving Friday the 13th: The Game a shot, well, there’s never been a better time!
The good news is, Gun Interactive has another multiplayer horror game headed our way later this year – The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. We’ve covered this one frequently here on the site and are eager to give it its day in court when it arrives on August 18th. Will we miss hopping into matches with friends around Camp Crystal Lake? Sure, but here’s hoping Leatherface and company can alleviate some of that sting later this summer.
Is any of this related to yesterday’s rumor regarding a new Friday the 13th game? Maybe! Nothing official’s been announced about a new F13th game, assuming franchise composer Harry Manfredini isn’t pulling a prank on anyone, doesn’t seem outside the realm of possibility that another studio might have a Vorhees-centric title in the works, timed to pick up that license while Gun Interactive’s expired. We’ll just have to wait and see how this turns out.
At any rate, you have your mission: pick up Friday the 13th: The Game before January 1st, and get all you can out of it before January 1st of 2025 rolls around. That’s plenty of time for some good ol’ fashioned slashin’.
